Gavinsmithartist
Whats the opinion on the format for a QR steering wheel. CC upper column and QR hub ? or, Weld on type hub, like SS. ? Also which wheel? Opinions sought. Gav
Stationary M25 Traveller
I used to have the splined one from CC. Always getting clothes greasy. COuldn't live with the play in the end. Replaced it with the lovely looking, and superbly performing one from 7-tips So easy to use !
sevenmad
As above, Rapfix from 7 tips is the best option, doesn't wear and get sloppy like the cc splined QR. Also has the advantage that you can put the wheel back on in any position and dial it round till it locks.

catastrada
Are the existing holes in the wheel (Standard CC Q/R) compliant with Rapfix System?
Stationary M25 Traveller
Didn't have to redrill my wheel.
NoLimits
Castrada Yes the Holes are identical PCD - they are even simpler to fit though as the Rapfix part is threaded so no need for nuts on the rear.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted April 26, 2012 Member Share Posted April 26, 2012 Is this the right link for the current RapFix? Jonathan
Lee Fowler
Yep sure is, give Simon a ring at Meteor he will sort you out. Lee
Stationary M25 Traveller
When I bought mine, it cost more, but the new QR unit was welded to a Caterham upper column, ready to go. Did 7-tips morph into Meteor ?
NoLimits
Yes it has Ian. Top shaft is extra and over the Rapfix cost - that's why it was more.
Gavinsmithartist
It appears thet the Rapfix gets the vote. Does this weld on the the existing shaft or do I need to change a part(s). Also opinions on steering wheels, please.
Roger Ford
Rapfix is imported by Plays-Kool. They'll weld the boss to your existing shaft for a tenner extra, or normally Simon at 7tips/Meteor will supply a new shaft with the boss welded on for around £30. Not sure why he's not showing that option at the moment.
NoLimits
It is its listed as Caterham Top Shaft.
Roger Ford
Oh yes, right next to it! And sorry, didn't realise you were already replying on this thread.
The Pikey
I could not get on with the Rapfix which they supply welded to caterham compatible column as it sits a good 10mm further towards the chest. I ended up grinding the weld off to split the two parts, machining the boss down and getting it re-welded back on. It's lovely now and a million times better quality than the std caterham offering.
