xflow earth location

After a winter rebuild the engine is back in but since its been a few months, I've forgotten where the battery earth lead is supposed to connect to? (the other end from the battery obviously )

 

Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

Hi,

Mine is attached to a 7/16 af (1/4" diameter) bolt through the chassis rail just above the passenger footwell near where the handbrake bolts in.

Mine attaches to the bellhousing, to one of the bolts that connects the bellhousing to the engine block.

Mine goes the bellhousing as well. Either one of the top most bolts.

Mine goes from the battery to the passenger side top bell housing bolt, and then there is one from the drivers side top bell housing bolt to a fitting that holds the brake pressure switch on the chassis.

I assume you've remembered the one from the o/s engine mount chassis end to the block.

 

THe battery earth on mine is also to bellhousing bolt.

Thanks for the replies.

 

My battery is in the original location under the carbs - the cable is too short to reach round to the passenger side of the car.

 

I have 2 earth straps - there is the one that goes from the bell housing top right-most bolt to the chassis by the master brake cylinder (this is the open pedal box chassis). This wasn't removed during the rebuild.

 

The second strap is from the battery, and thats the one that was removed and I can't quite remember where it went! I'll check and see if the cable can reach the bell housing which sounds like will give me the same earth layout as Molecular Bob.

Just dug out my 1991 supersprint build manual, which has the under carb battery, and it states that the battery to block connection should be via an engine mount bolt. mine was moved when the battery migrated to the passenger foot well top.
