jackb_ms
Hello I have a niggling issue with my car, the spark plug cover vibrates which create a irritating metallic noise. It vibrates because it seems in the past I was heavy handed and damaged the thread for the cap head screw. There is not a lot of material to create a new thread so I was thinking of using some chemical metal, filled the hole back and then drill and tap. or buying a bit of stud gluing the stud in and used nuts to hold the cover in place. Good or bad idea? Or buy a new cam cover, but I don't now how easy or difficult it is to change. Jack
Allen Payne
On my engine the 'studs' that the spark plug cover screws attach to un-screw and can be replaced. Have you tired removing the 'studs'?
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted April 13, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted April 13, 2012 Are you sure it's because of a damaged thread? My cover rattled and I cured it by putting a couple of small O rings on the bolts. Stopped the rattle and means bolts don't fall out and get lost when you remove the cover.
