tbird
Out in the garage fiddling today and decided really must find why throttle sticking, always when backing of revs, luckily sticking at fairly low revs and a quick blip fixes it. Cable seemed fine, no resistance but noticed that occasionally the quadrant/ butterfly would stick when nearly closed, also notice some endfloat in quadrant. whipped of filter to find butterfly screws jolly loose and butterfly floating around and catching on body. slipped thinnest feeler gauge under butterfly and tightened screws, sorted, no end float and no sticking glad it didn't fall off 😬 on the down side also found rubber round air filter split so need a new one ☹️, wonder how common this is (butterfly not rubber) Tim Edited by - tbird on 21 Mar 2012 18:05:
charlie_pank
What's the octane rating of a grub-screw?

Mark Durrant
I would use some threadlock on those screws to ensure they do not end up in the engine
tbird
good point, I didn't think I had any here but have just found some, might risk taking air filter off and doing them, or may wait until new filter arrives, cheers Tim
charlie_pank
If one of those screws comes off, it ends up in the cylinder. If it's really small and you're really lucky it gets blown straight out into the exhaust with no damage done.
tbird
Ah I understand, suspect they would not go through, they are brass trad. panhead screws. Much *cry* would ensue, will thread lock as Mark suggests. would have done it today but after fitting new shelves and tidying Garage I am 8u66er3d If I can find the thread lock I noticed lurking yesterday ☹️, should be easier to find now everything is tidy 😔 Tim
