Peter Lydford
I'm going to take my 7 for an MOT this weekend, I know on 'Q' plated cars it's not required to have an emission test, as my car is not 'Q' reg it'll need this test, but I've been told that cos' it says on the log-book 'kit built from new parts' it does not need the emission test, can anyone confirm this 🤔 ta. Roger King
The MOT regulations refer to 'amateur built' cars and not 'Q' reg. You should be exempt. Don't know what engine you have, but if it is a Crossflow, it should be able to pass anyway when properly set up. This may not be the case if you have an unusual spec of engine. Peter Lydford
The engine I have is a 1700 x-flow, it's been breath on with H/C pistons, gas-flowed, duplex chain, big valve, balanced etc: it's supposed to be putting out about 150bhp, whatever it chucks out it's quick enough for road use. It passed it's lase emission test o.k., I just wanted to be able to bypass the test 😬
Nick Woods
read this thread here - the bit of the MOT testers manual you need the most is August 2001 edition section 6.4 page 5c on the bottom right hand side of the flow charts Nick P8MRA - The green one with red wings. Which is now bent ☹️ 🙆🏻 ☹️ 🙆🏻 ☹️ 🙆🏻 ☹️ 🙆🏻 ☹️
