EU2 or EU3??

The ECUs aren't compatible so all the lovely mods for an EU2 are a pain to fit for the EU3 as you have to frig the loom (etc).

 

EU3 cars have a nasty plastic cam cover. EU2s the slightly less nasty metal ribbed affair.

 

I believe Emerald are working on EU3 style connectors for their ECU. Either that or revised looms. Or both.

 

A couple of people have done their own (think Miraz's is one of note).

other visual clues (although you almost certainly have an eu3, my may 2001 deliverd kit Sl is an Eu3)

 

no distribitor

coils on the top of 2 of the spark plugs (1 & 3 I think)

ecu is in a wedge shaped box

no inertia cut out switch

 

Eu3 is wasted spark also

 

I suspect DVAPower maybe goming up with a solution to the EU£ loom to Emerald issue sometime....

Al,

I can update you on this situation, because as Youve probably read on another thread I am in discussion with Dave Andrews at the moment.

The current situation is that there is no solution to the EU3 problem.

Miraz, Dave Andrews and Karl from Emerald are jointly trying to get an adaptor sorted to enable EU3 loomed engines to mate to an Emerald ECU. Yours Al is almost certainly going to be EU3. I am ringing Caterham this afternoon to see if they can supply my engine with an old EU2 loom, but I'm not hopeful.
