robn
I have a suspected coil problem and need to find a reliable auto electrician in the Guildford area, I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions. Rob
Graham Sewell
Depending on the engine, some coils are cheaper to replace - on my X-flow it was only about £25. Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
robn
My engines a VX classic, anyone got any idiot notes on how to find out if it is the coil thats gone?
Joe 90
Trial by substitution is the only sure diagnosis. Sometimes they fail open circuit or short circuit, which you can detect with a multimeter. More usually they flash over at high voltages, i.e. running conditions, which you can't easily test unless you have access to 20,000V generator and meter. 99,000 miles so far
robn
Yep you're right it was the amplifier unit attached to the coil, problem solved 😬
