Looking for an X-flow engine

HELLO every one!

I have just joined in the club 😬.

My colleague at work who has a same car as mine (an 1.7 X-flow) has blown up his engine a few weeks a go during his holiday near the Alps and now looking for a new one. His original engine was so heavily modified by the previous owner; he seems to have difficulties finding the fitting parts. We came to a conclusion that it may be better off to find a second hand but original Caterham supplied X-flow engine in good working condition.

How easy is it these days to find an original Caterham spec X-flow engines???? and what could be the asking price?

Any suggestions very much appreciated.

I dont know if you planned to get your X-flow parts locally or in England, but one of your bet bets is to try Burton Engineering, located near Ilford in Essex. They can supply just about every part for a X-flow including all the special performance parts. Telephone number is 0208 5540920.

Hope this helps.

Here is an advert for a good xflow for sale on the sevens list..

Due to an upgrade to K-Series power I am selling my Ford Crossflow as a

complete unit; from inlet manifold through to exhaust system - all you will

need is an Emerald ECU and wiring loom to be up and running (the engine has

necessary )

Bronze guides and Duplex springs

711M Block +0.060" (1660cc) - spare set of 0.090" pistons available should a

re-bore ever be necessary. (The engine has done less than 3000 miles since its

last re-build.)

Powermax solid skirt pistons

Kent 234 Camshaft

Duplex timing chain and vernier pulley

Heavy duty mains and big ends

Lightened flywheel

Burtons shallow baffled sump

I like my X Flow because:

1- It makes great noise (Who said 4 cylinders are for shopping Trolleys?)

2- Has decent performance.

3- Parts still available and cheap.

4- Keeps me busy in the rainy weekends ( fixing it up ).

5- Simplicity ( So even I can fix some problems ).

6- It is old already so it must become an antique soon right?

Though, from time to time, I wonder what it would be like to have a Honda S2000 engine under the bonnet...... *tongue*
