Brake light switch

Recommended Posts

Having had to replace the brake light switch last year (with one from car builder solutions) and having now had that one fail I'm looking for a top quality replacement switch.

Does anyone know where I can buy a really good quality alternative?

Might be worth a try......Mine has seemingly stopped working a couple of times (I use my car a lot) and each time I have taken it off and given it a good spray with electrical contact cleaner and it's been fine for another year or so. I think it gets dust and dirt in the plunger which stops it releasing when you press the brake pedal.

Make sure it adjusted correctly - if not, the pedal forces the plunger too far in, distorting the inner "springy" contacts so they don't work when you - carefully dismantling of the switch, a quick re-bend, reassemble and adjust and my original is working 11 yrs later.

Your local motor factors will probably have something that will fit and work for a sensible price if all else fails.
