speedo drive - blanking off

There is an oil seal around the spindle, but over time there is a chance it will drip oil.

As you don't need it, I would remove the large blanking plate remove the speedo drive and the oil seal and then seal both holes with blanking plates.

It is a long time since I have done this, so I hope this is right.

I may have a spare small blanking plate left over from my build, so I'll have a look in the garage shortly *smile*

I've found both large and small blanking plugs.

They were provided with my kit, but the holes had already been blocked with a long cap head bolt where the head sealed the speedo drive hole and it threaded into an alloy blanking plate at the other end.

I can post one or both to you if you wish.

thanks DJ/Rich

I already have the small blanking plate - can't remember how I came by it *confused*

DJ- I work within 1 mile of CCM so can pop in and pick up the large cap - but thanks for the offer *thumbup*

Rich - glad to see your faith in my abilities is steadily improving 😬

Do I remove the large plate first and push spindle out? - any tips you can recall?

*thumbup*

Rog,

Yes. Prize out the cap on the opposite side, and then push out the speedo drive gear from the side that is currently visible.
