John Gaines Posted October 14, 2002 Share Posted October 14, 2002 The spax shocks on the front of my live axle '96 are rubbing against the springs as the springs seem to "bow in " on one side. The spring can be moved about 2mm from side to side at the base of the damper. Is there a cure for this ? or can someone recomend a good alternative replacement shock that would be an improvement over the spax, or do I buy some new springs? Graham Sewell Posted October 14, 2002 Share Posted October 14, 2002 This is common on live-axle cars (do not know about the new-fangled de-dion jobbies). From what I could gather, even if you replaced the springs, it would recur in time. So I just coated that part of the shock with grease to prevent wear and then ignored it. However, after months of deliberation, I am booked in to Freestyle (aka Juno) for a set of their shocks/springs at the end of November. Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
