Trouble with my Dip-Stick !!

i expect it would probably sit in the bottom fothe sump and reasonably harmless. OTOH I'd drain the oil, drop the sump, dig the plastic out, then refit (the gasket can be reused OK), and fit a new oil filter and new oil.

ie, whilst you're at it you might as well do an oil change. check the foam baffle looks ok as well.

Andrew - had exactly the same problem - cold day, checking the oil and a cold, brittle dipstick broke off!

I don't think it is a problem, but do as Hoopy suggests.

Now, I have not yet, and that little bit is still in there, but it cannot get past the strainer, so I think it is ok for now.

DO order a new dipstick from Caterham, which is the non-snapping wire variety.

When I put the new dip stick in, I could feel it push the snapped bit out of the dipstick tube and into the sump. If this little piece is still in the tube, you may be able to undo the tube and dis-connect, then simply push the little piece out of the end, which has got to be easier than dropping the sump.
