apjenkins
Hi all, I have 4 pir sensors connected to domestic security / convienance lights outside the house and am forever replacing the pir's due to them packing up some way or another (usually stuck on). Can anyone recommend a top quality reliable unit? I don't mind paying out as I've spent a fortune on rubbish kit! p.s. we also seem to suffer quite a few momentary power cuts (say one a month) which throws some pir's haywire, so a solution to that additional problem would be great. Thank's @ndrew
Member Jonathan Kay Posted January 4, 2012 Member Share Posted January 4, 2012 B and Q cheapest. Some last well, some don't. If they are hard to access I suggest putting a waterproof plug and socket in the cable near the light so you can do all the fiddly wiring somewhere convenient rather than when you're up a ladder. Ian B
Steinel here are good quality, although if you're getting a lot of failures with contacts stuck on it may be the load that you're switching that is the problem. If all the lights and PIR's are connected together then you may be better off rewiring the PIRs with low voltage ones connected to a GLD controller here
Ian B
BTW short power cuts will make most domestic PIR's think they're being set to 'override' mode (usually activated by switching the supply on/off/on with the light switch).
Member Jonathan Kay Posted January 4, 2012 Member Share Posted January 4, 2012 What Ian says about modes. So it's worth learning the switch sequence that resets them. Jonathan
