yankeedoodoo
Today my bro and I noticed a sound when the steering wheel was turned to the right. First noticed when the car was turned off. The sound is a loud click, perhaps an impingement(?), originating in the steering rack. It can be felt when gripping the steering rod and is transmitted to the wheel. The sound only occurs once when turning to the right. The noise is not heard once underway, most likely because it is drowned out by road noise, engine noise, transmission whine, etc. If anyone could shed some light on this I would be most appreciative. Is something Knackered or is there an easy fix? Thank you for any and all responses and if you can help I won't care if this is subsequently hijacked. Giles Wardle
I have exactly the same thing only it occurs when steering to left. Taking car to Cat. Midlands soon to have diagnosed and cured, will let you know. I think it must be a bent tooth on the steering rack, caused when hitting kerb after taking evasive action from blind MPV driver.
