to charge or not to charge, the alternator that is ** now fixed**

1 bulb

1 wire from a bulb to battery +ve

1 wire from bulb to terminal on alternator

ignition on

= should illuminate bulb

 

crank engine and idle

= bulb should go out

 

have you done this simple test ?

 

does the alternator have rubber bush mounts ?

- if so you need an earth strap.

Finally fixed, the charging was sorted with the smaller pulley and the dash light by replacing the voltage regulator on the alternator
