Bart the Sylva Striker...

Coose

Recommended Posts

It's a sad day - Bart the yellow Striker has to go.... ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ It's not

through choice, but down to the fact that I'm now home(and garage)

less!

Some know who he is already, some may have seen him at Brooklands BEC trackday in

April (or was it March?), but he's a very early Striker (Escort anti-

roll bar, and apparently a one-off so far by having 2"x1" top chassis

rails) with a 1300 x-flow stg2 Arrows boat anchor with type 2 box.

Finished and registered in '99 correctly (on an 'E' plate) with lots

of history and receipts, tested 'til April 03.

It has full weather gear plus an aeroscreen, Momo QR wheel and

Allycat x-spokes.

It's in very good condition and it's really breaking my heart to sell

it, especially as I've just lined up a brand new Yamaha R1 lump for a

bargain price! Anyway, he can be yours for £3800....

If you're interested, either email or call me on 07974 684998.

Only if you start with the pre-conception that it's a Lotus 7 replica like a Caterham 😳. If you see it for what it is - a lightweight sports car - then there is no right or wrong place for the windscreen. Other than in front of the driver's face of course *tongue*.

Anyway, sorry for the thread hijack Coose - I can confirm that this is a very sorted car and if I didn't have 2 Sylva-genre cars already I'd be tempted. Especially at that price...

surely the only proper place for the windscreen is in the garage, as you will have fitted an aerscreen instead *smile*

sorry to hijack the thread

however I used to own a sylva striker and they are fine cars, and if ever I had to get rid of the catering van, then I would consider one of the slyva marque (phoneux, striker, fury etc)

3800 sounds like a good deal, and good luck in selling it

And incredibly, I too concur...

Bart is a fine (and particularly clean) example of the breed and if I didn't already have too many sevens / bikes / fire engines I'd be happy to blat in it. Although I'd be scared if Coose was driving.

I must also confess that it kept up with my 1700 Caterham the other week (but obvoiusly didn't have the history, aura etc. *wink* )

I Particularly like the steering wheel, a thing of great beauty. I've heard Coose sleeps with it when he's camping *wink*

Coose , I have a friend who is talking of buying a Robin Hood and I'm doing my best to persuade him that a Sylva or a Wetfield is a better choice.

Do you have any photos on the web ? (dont email any to me as I cant print them off anyway) If you dont have a website but do have some photos then www.yahoo.co.uk have a free photo album service.

Just to be sure I understand the ad, does "a 1300 x-flow stg2 Arrows boat anchor with type 2 box" mean a Ford crossflow and am I correct thinking that a type-2 box is a 4-speed ?

Whereabouts are you based ?

Nick,

As Coose is probably drinking gin *wink*, I may be able to put a picture of Bart up on my fledgling site.

The engine and box are X-flow and ford 4 speed, and the engine is as sweet as a nut.

Bart is down in Guildford but Coose is moving into London Village next week, hence nowhere to store it.

I'll try and upload a picture, then post the URL here if succesful.

Why thank you Mark, that was most considerate! *smile*

As Mark said, it's a cross flow with a four speed and can suprisingly hold it's own! (except above 85-90, but of course it never reaches those kind of speeds except at Brooklands officer......). 😬

Nick, convince your friend that a Sylva is far better than a Robin Hood - he'll know it makes sense! Yes, the Striker is narrower (eh Mark!!!!) and the ride is a bit harsher (i.e. not as softly sprung...) but these units aren't built for comfort!!! The only thing I will ask is that he goes to a good and happy home..... ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️

P.S. The aeroscreen was well in use until he had his little '850 miles in 5 days' holiday to "Wonderful Whitby in Scenic North Yorkshire".... I needed a roof!!!!! *wink*
