N Blandin
My Freestlye arb snapped the other day and before putting the new one on, I thought the car was quite nice without! The steering seems lighter and the expected wil oversteer doesn't seem to have appeared, at least at gentle road speeds. I suppose it would be horrendous on track
James_Russell
Lots of racing drivers prefer not fitting them at all. You get a very urgent turn-in and a useful amount of rotation all the way to the power application point. Many championships won by racers who never fit them! EDIT: notably Jamie Elwood never used one on his MegaGrad (imperial, widetrack, Yokohama a048, standard spring rates). AFAIK he kicked off somewhat of a trend in the Grads club at least, and now many drivers do the same, including my dad who swears by it. Dave McCulloch
Nigel I removed mine part way through a track day at Cadwell last year whilst trying to get rid of terminally dull understeer in the faster corners. I haven't put it back on and won't now - I much prefer the feel without. Dave
N Blandin
I must admit that I use a Freestyle ( now 7tips) adjustable bar and tend to run in the softest position. I might just play around with hs and also without on track next year.
Jason Plato
I found the adjustable bars too stiff even on the softest setting. I sold mine and reverted back to a skinny orange half inch bar.
GordonW
OK so who is running completely arbless and how is it for you? Anyone combining this liberated state with adjustable dampers... if so which clicks where?
Stoff
When I did a Caterham Experience Day at Silverstone last year I noticed they had the front ARB removed. I don't think I was quick enough for it to make any difference !!
Rich N
And the Jonathan Palmer days run without them, although I suspect this might be to increase the 'fun' factor and have you going round more than you go forwards.
AMMO
Haven't had one on my car for a couple of years. The car is much more comfortable to drive on bumpy roads.
millsn
Mine bust and was all the better for it. I've the supawide track and Gary tried to persuade me away from specifying the ARB in the first place. It didn't help handling that the thing never really fitted properly in the first place which was no doubt why it broke. I had hoped it would "lap" in. Alex Birtwisle
Just weighed my front ARB (while it's off the car) 2.75kg I think I'll leave it off for the rebuild and see how it feels. Alex
