Type 9 Quaife 5 Speed, HD (up to 275 BHP) straight cut box with steel baulk rings, alloy casing and top cover.

The input shaft is the one that Quaife specify to fit the Caterham and the Ratios are:

2.2, 1.54, 1.21, 1, 0.87.

 

This one is for sale because I have now changed to a Quaife Dog Box.

It was bought new in Nov. 2004 and has been used, almost exclusively, for sprints & hillclimbs - so I doubt that it has done more that 2500 miles. It has been stripped and overhauled almost every winter when the engine was out, the baulk rings were replaced when needed and, last December, new 1st & 2nd (different) ratios were fitted.

This one was checked over by a specialist at the time of changeover in August 2011 and was deemed to be in excellent condition.

It doesn’t come with a gear lever (I have reused this) but they are obtainable direct from Quaife.

 

I believe that you would pay over £2,700 now for a new one and used ones seem to go for above & around £1k, so asking for £900 here before it goes to eBay etc.
