scorcher
New Astra VXR engine @ 267 BHP AND 400 nm of torque - shame it's FWD only . Might not fit anyway but 4 WD would be tempting. Doable?
peterg
Among other, Zetecs, Duratecs, various Honda 2ltrs and VX XEs were all fitted as original equipment to FWD cars too you know... and they've all been fitted as RWD in se7ens of one type or another - you just need to get bellhousing and exhaust manifold made to suit* *note, some other bits may need a bit of fettling too Edited by - peterg on 8 Nov 2011 14:51:
Jason Plato
the vxr is a turbo isnt it ? we dont do turbos 😬
peterg
Several Westfields are fitted with turbo Cossie engines and some VXs as well though the latest 'must have' is a Honda 2ltr with a supercharger
Mankee
Kinda related but not, but here's Jason laying into a Westfield with the slightly milder Corsa VXR engine, 225bhp: here. Boost delivery will need careful setup on these little cars, especially turbos.
millsn
Seems to me that the recipe is to locate a peaky engine producing very little torque and superchage it to fix the problem. Along the way you get more power, simples. I would imagine a supercharged duratec would be fairly daft if they do 300 hp in n/a tune. I know a chap with a zetec engined KA which is giving me guilty thoughts. Pop a supercharger on that etc etc
Badger Bill
Don't think that those figures are particularly special. The old saab 9-5 aero engine was 250bhp and mid to high 300's nm. BB
TobyCoulson
Quoting peterg: Several Westfields are fitted with turbo Cossie engines and some VXs as well though the latest 'must have' is a Honda 2ltr with a supercharger When I was in France earlier this year for a rally I saw this thing
peterg
Del Hodder's Westfield (non-roadgoing) with supercharged Honda is currently making 380bhp AFAIK... 😬
