Al Crickmore
How well is my Factory built SL likely to be set up as far as suspension, ride height etc? Yellow/Carbon '02 Caterham Superlight No.
scooby dooby doo
presumably they don't know how heavy your are, this info is needed. on the other hand i'd hope that things like toe and camber were at least reasonable. HOOPY Today I shall be mostly wanting to go for a blat R706KGU
Nick Woods
Take it to Hyperion, they can corner-weight it for you as well as setting up the ride height etc. AFAIK they set up the R300 thats been getting rave reviews in the press so they should know what they are doing. Al Crickmore
You had that done Nick? How much do they charge? Yellow/Carbon '02 Caterham Superlight No.
New Barbie
Whereabouts are you, I went to Gary May (he of the pushrod front suspension invention fame), he's about as expert as they come at setting up a Caterham.
Al Crickmore
Count. I'm in Essex. I know, lucky me. Yellow/Carbon '02 Caterham Superlight No.
MattyD
This is a question i asked one of the mechanics at Caterham recently . He intimated that if no preference was given during build preparation, then a compromise series of settings would be applied. He specifically mentioned ride height was usually on the higher ( safe side ) to reduce the number of claims for replacement sumps ! . I would be very interested to find out of there is a definitive answer re standard factory set up. Also it would be useful to have a description of Hyperion setup used for the R300 tested by EVO . Cheers, Matt Superlight No 187 !
New Barbie
Gary May is in North Kent so a nice blat from Essex and well worth the trip.
Gary G
That might explain why there is so much air between Al's rear wheel and the wing! C7 GAR
Al Crickmore
Gary, shush. Count. Have you got any contact details? Is he expensive? Yellow/Carbon '02 Caterham Superlight No.
Nick Woods
Al, I was going to have mine set-up, albeit by Norfolks very own Bentley boy(Marc hicks) on a set of scales he was going to borrow. If that fell through I was going to go to Hyperion. Then I crashed it and wrecked most (all) the suspension ☹️ Tom Hodges had his car done there as part of his accident rebuild and he reckons it handles better than ever now. Gridgway
I had the factory flat floor setup and it was very good indeed. Graham
Graham Perry
Al, Hyperion are just North of Halstead, less than £100 last time they did mine. Worth a visit as their workshop usually has at least a dozen sevens in it at any one time
Mark Piper
Al, I see my comments bit deep then . I'm up at Hyperion Friday night and if it's only £100 I'll ask them to sort mine out too (it's in there for service and to raise the ride height!) Al Crickmore
Posted before you made that particular remark Mr Piper. Yellow/Carbon '02 Caterham Superlight No.
Graham Perry
Give them a ring first an ask roughly how much. Mine was just a flat floor and camber set, we didn't do the tracking or anything that required serious disassembly
