jackb_ms
Good Morning everyone. Being stuck in traffic on the motorway this morning, I started to ponder about a super charged K engine and using the DTH RB I have currently. The question I was pondering, was would a supercharged engine would give more torque/power with DTH RB vs a single throttle body? Cheers Jack
oilyhands
A supercharged engine normally uses a plenum and it is far easier to engineer that way. The advantages with individual bodies normally come with naturally maspirated engines where you can tune the length of the induction and take advantage of reflection pulses etc. to improve cylinder filling, supercharging makes a nonsense of all that. The_ASH
What about supercharged AND turbocharged ? North of 300hp easy, it might even fit under your bonnet certainly wouldn't fit under mine ☹️. Anyway you've only just got it going again so leave it alone and sort out the suspension. oilyhands
Dual charging doesnt improve peak horsepower, it just fills in the gap in the torque when the turbocharger isnt up to full boost. There are a number of issues to overcome with dual charging.. Oily
jackb_ms
My idea would be to "bolt on" (used very loosely) a charger to my VVC engine. Would that be a good idea or should I just go for a non VVC engine? Jack
Rich N
http://www.morego.co.uk/bbr-gti/RoverK.php On a different note Jack, you've reminded me that I've always wanted a go in an Elise with VW's 1.8T engine (or maybe now the 2.0T) and what a shame it is such a large heavy engine that won't fit anywhere near a 21 😬
oilyhands
A good friend of mine runs a business fitting Audi 1.8T and 2.0T engines to Elises and Exiges, perhaps I could put you in touch.. Oily
