Better 2011 results?

I get the impression that this season has seen consistently faster times and better driving by the top drivers at most events, when compared to previous years and that more records have been broken than in previous years. I've certainly enjoyed watching some of the action.

 

(happy to be corrected if this isn't actually the case and is an incorrect assumption I've made).

 

Question - why is this?

 

- have people's driving skills improved?

- are people trying harder?

- better car setup/performance?

- different approach ?

- ??

 

Genuinely interested in what the delta is over previous seasons

Some Classes - well actually its just 3 and 4 -with reference to records - not standard of driving IYSWIM

 

I'd say yes to all of the things you list but I suspect its essentially down to competition bringing the best out in people.

I am unsure. I think the hills have been in very good condition and this helps. In class 3 there has not been easy records to beat but times have dropped. We can not say its tyres as both Khumos and Avons are taking the records.

....I was meaning those who are actually putting in the good times Mark, rather than just displaying a lack of track knowledge and skill 😬

 

I was very lucky there...nil damage apart from my front number plate, which gave me the excuse to bin it and use a stick-on type...less drag, must be good for all of an extra 0.1 sec
