Molecular--Bob
OK, so how do you get the crb on a type 9 fitted to a crossflow to leave the arm. I am about 10 minutes from hitting it with the 4lb adjusting spanner. It may not help but i will feel better. ECR
I always removed the arm from the bellhousing by pulling/cutting off the plastic retaining tube at the opposite end from the cable. You can then access the rear of the crb and flip up the spring clips. You'll need a new plastic grommet on the rebuild
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted August 5, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted August 5, 2011 2 sprung "barbs" on CRB hold it in place - give them a poke with a small screwdriver
Molecular--Bob
H'mmmmmm, lots of options. I shall try them in reverse order and see what happens.

jonboylaw
As Paul says *arrowup*, there are two metal spring tabs you need to press in and the CRB will pop off nicely.
Myles
And once it's off, you can beat it to death 😬
Molecular--Bob
There is a 4th way. I'm getting a local small garage to give me a written report for dvla v5 requirements, as my engine is in their eyes used even though it has never run, and the guy dropped in to see how i was getting on. Seeing my problem he went to the van and returned with a small claw hammer and used it to pop each tab off the arm. Apparently even ford dealers did this if the crb was not going to be reused.
