Jan T
On a business trip to the US last week I was extremely fortunate to win a brand new Toshiba Portege 2000 laptop ( very, very slim at 0.6 ins thick, light 2.6 llbs and generally ace ) BUT what I really want is a mac so I can start editing etc my 7 videos I would like to sell it. Click herefor a full description. I will sell it for £1,500 which is a substantial discount as new it would cost over £2,000 (including the separate CD rom drive ), £100 will go to NTL and the rest will pay for a decent Mac. I do appreciate this would be an expensive acquisition BUT it is a very nice machine. It has a full international warranty, all the manuals , cables etc and the choice of XP professional or windows 2000 professional operating systems. E mail me if you are interested. Cheers Jan PS it has not been used at all.

Luke Beaumont
Proper pound sign (£) on the '3' key is the easiest way to tell.

Jan T
I think it's US (as in United States!) in that case. Jan
Luke Beaumont
Dave, a lot of laptops, even UK layouts, shuffle the slashes (particularly '/')about to squeeze in the windows keys. A thorough vexation for us *nix jockeys!

Luke Beaumont
And I'm losing my marbles... a look at my two laptops here reveals that it's the backslash, not the forward slash that's been moved. Whatever, not conclusive as an indicator of kbd language.
murph7355
It'll be US Jan. That said, I've used a US keybd for a few years with little hassle. Always tend to suffix numbers with GBP these days anyway. Much safer.

Silver 21
Jan Not wanting to spoil your sale but this can be bought from Dabs for £1595 + Vat (which quite a few people will be able to reclaim, me included), so it looks quite expensive. With regard to why you want to sell it why not edit on the PC?, rather than becoming a 'Mac Monkey' , PC's are much better 😬 Graham The not so New Competition Secretary, in fact already jaded 1700 Live Axle X/Flow, new pb at Curb, Loton Park and Shelsley Walsh in 2002
murph7355
Adil - I thought you were winding me up until BB posted. 😬 Edit away on your PC. The pros use them all the time. My arse. Edited by - andy murphy on 2 Oct 2002 15:06:
Jan T
BB No problem you haven't spoiled my party as I am minded to keep it. I have investigated the PC edit situation and yes it is possible. But boy is it complicated for a laymant? Answer: yes. I think the tech community needs some basic training in english and the art of explaining things clearly ☹️ Cheers jan
