wheel studs too short ?

I've just got a set of the new 15" alloys from Caterham - and very nice they are too. Put them on the SV and torqued up the wheel nuts and noticed that the nuts are not much more than half on the studs.

A quick call to Dartford got the response that caterham only supply a standard set of studs which should be fine, even if the studs do not protrude through the nuts.

I freely admit to having the mechanical aptitude of a jellyfish but this doesn't look right to me. Anyone got any advice ?

I had exactly the same problem. I took one of the studs off the car, large hammer job, and then went to see the local dealer. Ford in my case but could be Rover if you have an Ital axle etc...

They searched through the parts catalogue and found me a stud exactly 1/2" longer than the one I had in my hand. They were about 88p each so I bought 16 of them. Replacement took an hour or so but well worth the extra piece of mind.

JAG *cool*
