The intention was to hire a bike, but this looks like it's going to cost around £400, so I'm wondering about buying something instead. Pretty flexible on format, a track-day special 600 is one option, a super-motard style roadbike is another. Whatever it is does need to be in good working order - don't care about cosmetics but if I have to spend £400 on tyres, chain and brake pads that somewhat defeats the point.
