TobyCoulson
Having just done 800 miles around France in 4 days (my annual mileage is normally 1000!) I have lost my brake lights . I don't think it is the switch for the following reasons 1) The wing mounted ones went first followed by the SM25T high viz rollbar one went a few minutes later 2) Whenever I turned on my wipers on the rev counter flicked up momentarily. Any ideas before I go and investigate the problem.
kenny.
Bet its the earth wires bolted on to one of the rear wing bolts
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted May 31, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted May 31, 2011 I'd start with the Switch It's the easiest to check. Once you've ruled that out start checking connections especially earths. Edited by - Paul Richards on 31 May 2011 08:21:
TobyCoulson
Quoting kenny.: Bet its the earth wires bolted on to one of the rear wing bolts Possibly. I did ground out quite heavily at one time so that may be a reason but for them to go at different times seems a bit odd as they are on the same circuit
Stationary M25 Traveller
Or the sub loom plug has come unplugged if it wasn't clicked 'home' ?
TobyCoulson
But would that affect the main brake lights as well? I did have the sub loom connected before It followed your lead and installed the hig viz strip on the roll bar and the brake lights worked fine then. It does seem strange that the rev counter flicks up when I turn on the wipers and that never happened before the lights packed up
kenny.
My last car had a bunch of earths under the rear wing so I can only guess it was earthing many circuits.
wjblundell
I take it the fuse is OK. I had the hand brake cable rub through the cable outer which blew fuse after fuse until I spotted it.
