scooby dooby doo
the washers go in a different place on the lower wishbone. you'll need different length brake line, you'll need spacers/different types of track rod arms and dampers. Peter Carmichael
The dmaper top mount on a '90 chassis is in a different place to a '96 on, so don't know where that leaves you for dampers.
EFA
Correct Peter. If you are going wide-track on a 1990 car you will not be able to use extensions on the Spax dampers! Aftermarket dampers ( AVO's or even some used Bilsteins) will vastly improve the handling. Julian Thompson
How, specifically, is the handling improved with retro fitment of different dampers over the standard Bilstein units?
EFA
The damping and rebound characteristics can be adjusted to match the dynamics of the spring. The factory springs are a road/track compromise, and for track use the stiffer springs leave the car under damped. This is good for small tight courses like Curborough, but larger tracks with long fast curves demand more damping.
