A couple of contributions....

Back from the recent Brands GP track day (brilliant Geoff, thanks so much for organising) I estimate about 16mpg. I was doing all I could to "try" too

On the way there and back, mpg remained around 35, so similar to others.

 

My take on John's question about mapping - the maps that the Steve's produce are individual to your car - taking into account fueling/cams/exhaust etc. I suspect that any bespoke map they came up with would be better than a generic CC map and could be used in a standard car. I am sure the Steve's or a similar set up would be able to make a better generic map than seems to be found on a standard 7 from the factory. But all that costs money.
