Tony J Posted September 21, 2002 Share Posted September 21, 2002 Does anybody know if there should be any play in the main spiget where it exits the tube shaft (the one passing through the thrust race bearing in the bell housing) there is also a slight tolorance at the prop flange end any ideas ! CHRIS CLARK Posted September 21, 2002 Share Posted September 21, 2002 Yes, there should be a reasonable amount of play (more than you'd think!). In fact, the wobblier it appears the quieter it seems to be. Some of the six speed race 'boxes have so much play you'd think they were knackered but they work well. A tight spigot bearing is often the sign of a copy bearing having been fitted and these don't work well although you & I would have assumed them to be better due to no play!!! 3-4mm of movement at the spline end is fine.
