Member Jonathan Kay Posted April 5, 2011 Member Share Posted April 5, 2011 What's the correct way to assemble the plain, crinkle and shoulder washers and anchor plate on the bolt so that the plate can swivel freely? Thanks Jonathan
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted April 5, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted April 5, 2011 Hi Jonathan, I have just assembled mine and its plain washer, crinkle washer, anchor plate on belt, top hat spacer with the smaller side slotting into the anchor plate, chassis point. You should be able to tighten the bolt completely leaving the seat plate (anchor) able to swivel on the top hat spacer and prevent from rattling by the crinkle washer against the plain one. myothercarsa2cv
I put the crinkle washer under the seatbelt plate. Don't suppose it really matters.
Sheds Moderator
I can't remember but if you sit down with all the bits you will be able to work out how the anchor is supposed to sit on the shouldered washer or shouldered bolt. Then you can work back from there.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted April 5, 2011 Author Member Share Posted April 5, 2011 Thanks Nick, and others. Question to answer in 6 minutes! That's how I have them but the step on the washers isn't deep enough for the plates on my new harness. More soon... Jonathan
CharlesElliott
Ditch the crinkle washers.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted April 22, 2011 Author Member Share Posted April 22, 2011 Thanks for the suggestions. They are too loose without the crinkle washers. The anchor plates are 3.98mm thick. Does anyone know a source for the top hat washers so that I can try and find some with a longer thin bit? Thanks Jonathan
tbird
I had exactly the same problem at weekend, whether I put crinkle washer above or below plate the plate would not swivel once bolt with flat washer nipped up, at the moment have just nipped it all up with harness pointing in correct direction, maybe will ditch crinkle washer and see from there, I guess they cannot be too loose really (its on a CSR with standard Caterham 4 point Harness) although as Nick says they might Rattle, oh well another rattle is neither here nor there 😬 Tim Edited by - tbird on 22 Apr 2011 15:13:
myothercarsa2cv
Some move, some don't - it's the great harness lottery 😬

Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 9, 2011 Author Member Share Posted August 9, 2011 I'm getting a quote for having some top hat/ spacer washers made. Does anyone else need some? Jonathan
davedlr
I got spacer washers included when I bought my new Titon harnesses a month or so ago. It could be worth having a chat to the guys at Prima to see if they will supply them seperately? Prima Motorsport
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 9, 2011 Author Member Share Posted August 9, 2011 Thanks. So did I. Unfortunately the thin section on the ones I got from Prima was slightly too short so the belts won't swivel. Jonathan

myothercarsa2cv
Would it not be easier and cheaper to take your too-short top hats to an engineer shop and have them altered?
