Steve W Posted September 17, 2002 Share Posted September 17, 2002 My Techcraft exhaust has started to blow at the end and get a little loud This is normally packed with handfuls of a glass fibre looking material (sorry for the vague description) . I’ve found a company just around the corner who build bike exhausts. From them I have a large sheet of packaging they use. This seems also to be fibre based but much denser? I was thinking of just rolling the sheet into a tube and with the end cap removed sliding it down into the can (I’ll just tap down the packing that’s left in there). Trevor Phillips Posted September 17, 2002 Share Posted September 17, 2002 Merlin Motorsports sell 2 types: a cloth on a roll [which I found tended to solidify] and bag of a basalt based fibre wool. I've just repacked and relined my SBD carbon can with it, and it's sounds like new, ie quiet........ When you do it, wear a dust mask, and some protective clothing. Still not that quiet at just under 100db at 4.5K rmp. Also does not seem to last that long. I think I'll tap down what's left in there and top it up with the roll stuff and see how it goes.
