windy1
Anyone have experience of using these wet cell 12V batteries as a replacement for road car battery? They seem to be cheaper than the red top variety according to a chap owning an R700 who was at Brighton Speed Trials on Saturday. Any advice much apreciated. Where can I buy one? mav
Not sure about for a car. Have always been good in Bike applications, and are also used in the UPS at work.....

Michael Peterson
We have had good luck with lawn tractor batteries. In a pinch they work just fine. I know it sounds bad, but out here in the colonies you have to improvise once in a while Cheers! No officer, the wheel is on the RIGHT side. Red Super Sprint De Dion Soon! peterg
I've been using a Yausa NPC17-12 (I think) in my 1800 Zetec engined Westfield for the last year with no problems - I plug it into an Optimate battery conditioner whenever the car's going to be left for a while but when I forgot to do this over two weeks it still started first time! I got mine from MDS Batteries - www.mdsbattery.co.uk about £45 inc postage
Peter Carmichael
These are deep cycle batteries which are normally have to be bigger to give a given cranking capability, but if you are havign no problems then they are evidently the right size. They will not deteriorate with deep discharge cycles like a Red Top.
windy1
Dave, Spoke to Jim but he couldn't remember the exact spec of the battery he supplied you with. There is YTX20H-BS, YTX20HL-BS, YTX20L-BS, & YTX20-BS varieties of these batteries with varying specs on weights, cranking amps (CCA) & Ah charge rates. Any chance you could check which one you had? Thanks Graham
