ewenm
Hi all, Just got back from a 2000+ mile trip to the Dolomites - fantastic trip and thanks for the advice planning it earlier in the year. The only problem was filling up in German/Austrian/Italian petrol stations. The nozzle of the pump has a wider section about 3 inches back from the tip which jams against the bodywork before the nozzle is in the tank. Apparently this is to catch the fumes coming out (EU directive methinks?). Has anyone else found this and got a good solution - the temporary workaround was to use a funnel but as these pumps are now appearing in the UK (BP station on southbound A3 between M25 and Guildford for example) a more permanent solution would be good. Peter Carmichael
Remove the filler neck and cap mounting and then give the spring loaded flap bit a good clonk with a hammer and drift. This will break the spot welds and it will fall out, giving you remarkably good filling access - this may not apply to aero filler caps.
