andy couchman
Kevin - that looks good. I have a live axled car with standard FIA rollover bar so suspect this would need new outer bits made. How much are you asking for? Thanks. Andy
k.russell
andy i dont think it would fit a live axle car arnt they quite a bit different around the roll bar area.
andy couchman
Yes, the plan would be to re-make the outer panels and just re-use the centre one and any fittings. Guess that may be an expensive way to do it though! Andy
k.russell
it would be easier to probably scratch build your self a cover than modify the one i have, the other pics on my site may give you some ideas how i made mine. the center panel is basically a flat panel, the outers are the trickier bit but not that difficult. i could take some sizes of the panel and you could make some card templates to see if it would fit. andy couchman
Thanks Kev. I've taken some of the measurements off your pics and will have a go. Cardboard first, then transfer to ali. Can I ask, how did you secure the cover to the chassis rails? Did you weld on lugs or is there some easier method? Thanks again. Andy
k.russell
Andy the cover is secured at the front with an ali agle that is riveted to the rear bulkhead, the cover slips under this. the roadsport cover also bolted in with an m5 bolt into a rivnut that was fitted into a threaded hole next to the rollcage spigot hole, the rear of the cover is fastened to the rollcage mounting bolts, this holds down the sides and carries the fixing for the dzus centre attachment. there is also a small "z" shaped bracket each side on the curve that pulls up with a 5mm bolt under the chassis rail. this is similar to the arch /caterham fitting. hope this is a bit clear. andy couchman
Thanks Kev - yup, goddit.. Nice looking car by the way. I did mine with the filler cap under the boot cover too - much easier to fill up (but only after undoing the boot cover!). Andy
