Titanium7
Just noticed leaking brake fluid from my standard rear caliper on a 2009 car(this is the third caliper that has failed in the same way, both front when the car was under warranty). It is coming from the piston and has ruined the pad. Questions 1. Is it worth trying to get a service kit and repairing it? Where from and what do I ask for? 2. How easy is it to do this? or 2. Where can I get a replacement caliper at a reasonable cost? Martyn
Z3MCJez
There was a warranty recall on standard rear calipers for 2009 cars. I had a pair under warranty. Call CC and see what they say, even though you're outside warranty. Jez
Sheds Moderator
If no joy from CC re warranty: Assuming they still use the old Sierra design, I would get one from my loal motor factor as a recon exchange. Cost about £50-60. Seal kits are hard to get hold of these days. Easy enough to fit though, if you can get them., esp on a car as new as this. Pendennis
Due to the nature of your re-occurring problem I'd flush out and replace the brake fluid as well
Phil B
Hi, If CC don't play ball on the recall, why buy re-con units? Rally Design have a pair of brand new Sierra calipers (solid disc type) for £159 outright. try linky below. http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=562_588&products_id=13593 The classic Escort rally boys use them for rear disc conversions on road cars that need handbrakes. Titanium7
Phil Thanks for that. Have been googling and found them here a little cheaper. Also been looking at this service here , they would come back nice and pretty Martyn
Support Team c7trp Posted February 20, 2011 Support Team Share Posted February 20, 2011 These guys seem OK. Brakes International - Rochdale £46 IIRC Or buy a refurb kit and rebuild yourself?
