With a QR steering wheel my start sequence is as follows:

1. Lap belts in

2. Shoulder belts in

3. Check lap belts tight

4. Tighten shoulder belts

5. Crotch strap in

6. Gloves on

7. Helmet on

8. FIA master switch on

9. Key ignition on

10. Flip red toggle switch covers

11. Ignition on

12. Fuel pump on

13. ECU on

14. Try and remember where I left the damn steering wheel.... 😳 *wink*

YES is seems LifeLine fire and safety systems are doing "other" things as well ............ I guess the QR wheel is a "safety system"

You can call them on 02 476 712 999

Alex,

be sure that you have pushed the wheel fully onto the splines before releasing the collar. It is possible to fit the wheel securely but not fully onto the splines, which will result in a 2 - 3 mm movement. It could be a case that the column has been fitted too far down, thereby not allowing the wheel to be fitted properly, although not likely. I mistakedly didn't check the wheel was totally down on the column whilst at Oulton. Realised my error whilst entering druids at full tilt. AAAAhhhhhhhhhhh.........

Stu.

ps don't let Rachael know the earths moved, not by that small amount anyway!

My QR has no play at all.

And after one rather unpleasant moment when it clicked 'on' as I approached a roundabout one afternoon, my safety check goes something like this:

1. harnesses on,

2. screens closed.

3. fit steering wheel.

4. Pull steering wheel. If it comes off, return to point 3 & FIT IT PROPERLY THIS TIME.

5. Start engine...

I don't normally have a problem remembering the steering wheel. However, my start up routine seems to be:

Jump in through roof (I have a side impact bar)

Do up harnesses

Fit steering wheel

Remove steering wheel

Undo harnesses

Jump out through roof clouting shin on steering boss

Fit Master switch

Jump in through roof

Do up harnesses

Fit steering wheel

Remove steering wheel

Undo harnesses

Jump out through roof clouting other shin on steering wheel

Shout " 🙆🏻!"

Limp to house to find ignition key

Jump in through roof

Do up harnesses

Fit steering wheel

Start engine

Try to pull away

Stop car

Undo harnesses

Release handbrake

Do up harnesses

Drive twice as fast to destination as I'm now running 10 minutes late 😬

I've taken to carrying very heavy objects so that I can stretch the length of my arms a bit. I figure with a couple more inches on my left arm I will be able to reach the handbrake with the straps done up.

Isn't the little blighter so tantalisingly close? Your fingers tips just brush up against the release knob but not quite enough........

I had cause to stop the car the other day so that I could release the handbrake 😳 - Thought it felt a bit hesitant.........
