CageyH
Which ever meets the GL4 spec? However, SPC recommend the Lightweight shockproof. Only dead fish go with the flow....!

Gary Stone
When I had Phil at Road & Race rebuild my 5 speed Quaife box a few years ago he recommended Shell Spirax G80 oil. Might be worth giving him a buzz. Superlight R'66 GMS 'Flying Very Low'...
Dickie Normuss
The stuff I used was just labelled as MTL VX HPC - Loud and proud here Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere
BBL
From the Redline gear oil for manual transmissions web page: MT-90 is 75W90 GL-4 gear oil MT-85 is 75W85 GL-4 gear oil MTL is 75W80 GL-4 gear oil My manual indicates to use a 75W90 GL-4 gear oil, so I used Redline MT-90 in my BGH Type 9 gearbox. I suspect most any of these GL-4 gear oils above or equivalent products from rival manufacturers will be fine under all but the most extreme use, and even then. And if SPC is recommending the Lightweight Shockproof, well, that's a pretty darn good source for a recommendation. Sean
heavenly7
Redline recommend the 90. I have used both and cetainly couldnt tell the difference. I dont think there is a great deal between the two. They are a huge difference over anything else I have used and the difference is very noticeable.
