Leadership Team Midas Posted December 31, 2010 Leadership Team Share Posted December 31, 2010 I decided to change my cambelt - so I used the trusted 'screwdriver in the ring gear slot' trick and hey presto - the screwdriver is well and truely lodged solid i spent all day yesterday bashing and banging the thing but it is wedged solid - I put the car in gear and tried to rock it with no success. the screwdriver appears to have lodged itself between the flywheel and the bellhousing side. I think it would be easier to take the engine and gearbox out and then split them on the bench. is there an easy engine out guide (with gearbox attached)? And anyone in the Bristol area have a crane i can borrow???
prs
Put a jack under the gearbox and remove the gearbox mounting. Then partially undo all the engine to gearbox bolts, don't forget the two sump bolts assuming this is a K. You should then be able to move the box back slightly and hopefully enough to remove your knackered scewdriver. If it works resist the temptation to throw it across the garage, chances are it will bounce back onto your car
Racing Snake
Have you taken the spark plugs out to make turning the engine over easier 🤔 Should be able to get it out if you can rotate the flywheel in the right direction Mad Hatter The Dura Mentalist 😬 Carl @ Penn 7's Caution - May Contain Nuts !
