Shad
Not a trick question! I have a suede steering wheel that I swear is only about a year old, as are the gloves I drive with. Anyway, it's starting to look a little second hand. I went for gloves with as much suede on the palms and fingers as possible to help keep the wheel looking good (figuring suede-on-suede would be a happy combination), and it's the areas of of the gloves that aren't covered in suede that have worn the wheel. Is this unavoidable or is there a better solution? Most of the gloves available to buy have leather on the palms/fingers, and those with suede are about as comprehensive as my current gloves. Simon niknak.org

tbird
The steam and brush mehod from above link did a good job on mine, it was about 3 years old and not manky, but bearing its age with dignity 😬 steam and brass brush brought it up a treat Tim CSR 200 Aztec and Black

Stationary M25 Traveller
Cleaned mine with trainer shampoo and then teased the nap back with one of those rubber fingered red headed 'brushes" meant for suede shoes.
Shad
Well colour me educated- didn't realise it could be saved, I assumed all the suede had worn off the shiny bits on the wheel. Will try the steam and brush trick tomorrow, cheers 😬 Ta for the gloves link too Dave - I used to use GP2 gloves a while ago but my pair wore out, then I couldn't find a replacement pair. Simon niknak.org
acw
Is suede on suede the correct choice? I was told ages ago (can't remember who) that it should be leather on suede and vice versa. Andrew

Shad
@Andrew - All I know is the areas of my gloves not covered in suede haven't made the wheel go shiny, and I have much more grip on the wheel with suede gloves than leather. It's almost like velcro with the suede so I find I have a lighter touch. Simon niknak.org
Shad
I just tried the steam and suede brush, it really works! Wheel is looking almost as good as new again, thanks for the tip  Simon niknak.org
