The Pikey
I've been reading how synthetic oils don't allow the engine to bed in properly and some suggest that the first fill oil is mineral based. Any sugestions what oil I should use to run in this brand new engine? thanks Jason
Racing Snake
Millers Competition running in oil here Mad Hatter The Dura Mentalist 😬 Carl @ Penn 7's Caution - May Contain Nuts !
I reply to every thread
Just your standard Halfords mineral oil of fairly low viscosity (this time of year). Don't rev the nuts off it and change to decent syn after a few hundred miles
Racing Snake
Good for 5 hrs running in on the rolling road or 500 miles on road Good value too Mad Hatter The Dura Mentalist 😬 Carl @ Penn 7's Caution - May Contain Nuts !

prs
I used Millers running in oil on my 230bhp K. Got everything up to temp and then gave it the beans. Great engine now and it uses approx half litre every 1500mls. Previous rebuilds I've used mineral oil but oil consumption not so good. The Millers is specifically designed to prevent bore glazing. spiderlane
FWIW I did exactly the same as prs on my R400 Duratec. Millers Running In Oil from new, get oil up to temp (not just water) and gave it the beans (well as many beans as I could manage before running out of road :) )
