elie boone Posted September 10, 2002 Share Posted September 10, 2002 Just make sure that the hub surface is clean where the disc is bolted to. brake disc to hub 22-27lbft brake caliper bolts 40-45lbft. Delberts Wallet Posted September 11, 2002 Author Share Posted September 11, 2002 Thanks Elie, I've had alook at how the discs come off but I cant seem to get the hub cover off (small dome thing) How does it fit on. Is it push fit or screw or ??? Hopefully new discs will turn up tomorrow cos they didn't today and I took the day off to fit them , still got a few other things done tho. Blue and Carbon Nice! CHRIS CLARK Posted September 11, 2002 Share Posted September 11, 2002 Black hub 'thing' is the grease cover for the outer bearing. It should have a small hole through the centre (to allow air out as it is put in place). I use a long self tapper screw wihich bites into this hole then pushes against the centre of the stub axle (inside the back dome). This should ease the dome off or at least get some positive pressure on it which with a little gentle tapping with a LIGHT hammer can release it. Warning:- Make sure you get the felt grease retainer washer at the rear (inside) round the right way. scooby dooby doo Posted September 11, 2002 Share Posted September 11, 2002 the exceptionally cunning people (not me) put a rivnut in the hole and then use a suitable bolt in the rivnut to remove it... look neater, the thread in the rivnut will last longer than a self tapper, and it can easily be replaced..
