Oil Surge

*cool*Can anyone offer some free advice to a new Caterham driver? I have a Classic fitted with the big valve 1558cc Lotus Twin Cam from the Elan +2. Under hard cornering I think I am getting oil surge (the oil pressure drops to zero and the engine takes on a clattering sound). Do I need to dry sump the engine or will fitting baffles into the sump be adequate? If so, does anyone fancy letting me know roughly what's involved?

I run a specialist HiFi shop and am willing to offer any advice or knowledge I can if needed by anyone.

Ta, Lee

Lee ,

First STOP cornering so hard that the oil presure drops if you don,t you will destroy that loverly twin cam(Thats if you hav,nt already done some damage!) And yes it sounds like you do need something to help. Try Redline (01883 346515) they are in caterham town not far from you and they deal in the older car parts aswell as the newer stuff.Very helpful guys *thumbup*.

Thats the second time today i,ve recomended them and im not even on comision *tongue*

the more i knock off the faster it gets !

*smile*Thanks for the advice and number, I will call them tomorrow to get help. I have only been cornering hard over the last couple of weeks and it has only happened a few times. Just getting to grips with the limits of the chassis and enjoying power slides, for the first time 😬

TA!
