weeman
A friend has a 1700 Xflow which has no Spark coming from the coil. He has recently changed the Ignition Amp (Lucas AB 14) because he suspected the old one had failed and although there is 12V on both terminals of the coil, to which the amp is connected, only 0.8v is coming from the amp and going to the condenser. I'm able to ascertain (with a meter) what is happening, but I'm unsure that I know what should be happening? A limited budget means that I don't want to start replacing things unnecessarily. All help will be greatly appreciated _________________________ Be Lucky!! Martin (Solent Se7ens)
Eugene
I'd suggest trying the coil? It may be breaking down or shorting. Either can show voltage, but no spark. Small Boy - with Loud Toy! Graham Sewell
I have my old (very old) aldon dizzy setup that I am looking to sell. has standard Caterham advance and was working when I took it off the car a few years back (not the later dizzy that may have had an intermittent misfire). Area Representative bluenose Posted November 15, 2010 Area Representative Share Posted November 15, 2010 Martin Might be worth looking at this which has some fault finding on an amplified ignition systems, although no mention of CEI systems. Nick Thanks for the link, have down loaded it and I've got some reading to do. _________________________ Be Lucky!! Martin (Solent Se7ens)
James_Russell
I had a very simular issue on my 1600vx, replaced pretty much every component in the ignition system AND spent £200 at SPC having my MBE box interrogated, and the fault turned out to be a combination of bad earth to the MBE and the female terminals in the connector to the MBE box being too loose. Just a thought! Q41 ACF Classic Grad #
