Xflow ignition woes... help

weeman

Recommended Posts

A friend has a 1700 Xflow which has no Spark coming from the coil.

He has recently changed the Ignition Amp (Lucas AB 14) because he suspected the old one had failed and although there is 12V on both terminals of the coil, to which the amp is connected, only 0.8v is coming from the amp and going to the condenser.

I'm able to ascertain (with a meter) what is happening, but I'm unsure that I know what should be happening?

A limited budget means that I don't want to start replacing things unnecessarily.

All help will be greatly appreciated *thumbup*

Graham,

Might get back to you on that, bear in mind it's not my money that I'm spending. *thumbup*

Nick

Thanks for the link, have down loaded it and I've got some reading to do. *smile*

I had a very simular issue on my 1600vx, replaced pretty much every component in the ignition system AND spent £200 at SPC having my MBE box interrogated, and the fault turned out to be a combination of bad earth to the MBE and the female terminals in the connector to the MBE box being too loose. Just a thought!
