AMMO Posted September 7, 2002 Share Posted September 7, 2002 Saw a copy of Autocar that featured the turbocharged 210 bhp Focus. Although the cam cover says Duratec it looks like a Zetec to me. scooby dooby doo Posted September 7, 2002 Share Posted September 7, 2002 Have they just decided to drop the Zetec engine name and call everything a Duratec 🤔 eg the diesel is called a Duratec dCi, the new diesel family is going to be called the Duratec tCi etc etc. I think Zetec is still a model / trim name though. Its just another Ford naming balls up. Zetec now means a car with lots of desirable toys. Rob, the internal name for the Duratorq engine is Puma..... ? Focus, transit, galaxy, fork lift trucks .... washing machines.... hoovers...food processors. If the Zetec is the new Crossflow, then the Duratec is the new Zetec. Mark Piper Posted September 11, 2002 Share Posted September 11, 2002 Great news! my faith restored in Ford's inability to deliver great engines - First it was the 1.25litre Yamaha unit, now the Duratech...I just KNEW they couldn't build a decent high tech engine if they tried, but given the glowing reports on the Duratech was seriously worried that at last they'd employed some talented individuals in their engine department.... The engine must be due to expire and I am considering other engine options.
