On Pistonheads with a possibly Freudian malapropism:

1997 P reg caterham 1.6 k-series. 15,400 miles, 5 speed, de dion axle. Red with black nose cone and wings. Equipment includes: adjustable leather caterham seats, 4 into 1 exhaust, 4 point seat belts, full weather gear (one year old), new rear tyres, fia roll bar, battery master cut off switch, plumbed in fire extinguisher, removable steering wheel. Mot (March 2011). Great fun road and track car. Change of circumcises forces sale.

Built from bits ? The the rear wheels look like a different offset to mine (same year and spec) so I think it will have an "interesting history"

Unlikely, unless it has been extensively modified since. No cage, no FIA switch (says it's got one, but if so it's in the wrong place), 4-point belts, leather seats.

 

Academy cars in '97 were Vauxhall, I think (possibly crossflow, but definitely not K).

unusual to have side impact protection bar and not have any race history, especially with the cutoff key and plumbed in extinguisher.

 

Still might be good value though.
