Recommended Posts

Ive got a 5 speed Ford T9 gearbox

The manual says it should be filled with EP80 any well known brand

the only stuff we could get off the shelf was EP80-90W

is this suitable, Phone call to 7 Factory was met with a

"mmm.....ehh.... that should be OK!"

They also reccomend that Comma oil was used, ours is valvoline, should I get down to the shop and order some?

I would tend to agree with the Factory mmm....eh. Your choice of oil is not ideal Ford had a lot of trouble with the Type 9 and the fix was to use a special GL4 spec synthetic lubricant `Red` in colour and smelled a bit like cherry`s. Unfortunately this is no longer available and its Ford replacement is not as good. The oil of choice would be Red line MTL fully synth GL4 spec 75W/80. This will allow your syncro mesh to operate at optimum. Available from Demon Thieves or Miserable M/Sport
