So what happened?!!!

Andrew - a good day for most in sunny Devon - well it started wet but gradually dried during the day. The last timed run was effectively dry *smile*

Not too sure about the other classes but class 4 was -

Mike S 44.11

Stuart M 45.24

Paul F 45.77 after hitting the gate ☹️

Lynn 47.15

Graham V 47.16

Clive M 48.14

Nick P 54.00

But thankfully I managed a 44.08 😬

Paul - I hope the damage is only bodywork - is it true you are going to place a regular order for rear wings *eek* Should match my order for front wings 😬

Looking forward to Anglesey *wink*

Oops - probably forgot the most important achievement of the day - Shaun achieved his first class win, beating El Presidente to pole position in class 5 *cool* *cool*

That the week after Gill scored her first 90+ points (well 93 actually) - cause for celebration in chez Elwell *biggrin* *biggrin*

Absolutely delighted to hear about the extra 0.4 points Stu ☹️ *biggrin*

Another new wing and a bit of silencer refinishing will see me ready for the Anglesey finale.

Congratulations to Chris for holding off Mike and to Shaun for edging out the ex Comp Sec.

Well done Shaun *thumbup*

All to be confirmed when i get the official results

So by my math Mike is out of the over all championship and class 4 race now as his 99.93 for Wiscombe means he cannot catch Chris even if he wins both of the anglessys

But just to keep it interesting in Class 4 Chris though needs 1 more win at the last 2 rounds to be probably crowned overall champion...i think *confused*

Hmmm...that was what I thought Rob ☹️

I blame the rain shower just before the last run - oh yes, and the complete lack of tread on one of the front tyres now after I locked up approaching Martini on the first timed run *eek*

On the other hand, it does mean that if the rest of us in Class 4 try very hard at Anglesey we could scupper Chris' aspirations (unless of course some 'spot betting type' offers are made 😬)

And well done Shaun - excellent *thumbup*

are you saying you ran in non road legal condition, that would get you 100 points in class 6, and the overall championship is irespective of what class you ran in AFAIK, and can be across multiple classes, add in 2 wins in class 6 at anglessey and you couldbe overall champion *tongue*

but can you imagine the amount of stick you would take 😬 *nono*

I think it is a loophole in the overall championship that we need to close 😳 or at least clarify the wording

something to consider for next years regs, it only effects the overall championship

but maybe we need to discuss not well supported classes as a novice or lady could turn in class 6 at most events and win those respective classes..

maybe something like a "minum of 3 competitors" need to compete for those scpres to be couted for the overall championships...

I think this is something we need to discuss, I am building a Mk2 Escort rally car which will be on the road next season. I don't intend to tax and insure the Caterham as well, so as things stand will be entering Class 6.

Many on here with vastly more experience than I have, but I see as follows:

£185 tax

£300 insurance

£400 tyres to compete in road legal classes 1 to 5 per annum

£680 slicks (and probably 2 to 3 sets a year to be competetive)

upwards of 230BHP to be competetive

a sequential gearbox to compete in class 6

that's 10K to kick off with, and higher annual costs not to be road legal. Not sure I see the financial logic in not taxing or insuring unless you can run in classes 1 ot 5 without these things? I wouldn't mind people running without tax, MOT and insurance as "road legal" but I don't think we can go to the events we do and pass scrutineering?

Perhaps some guidance from our comp sec / chairman on the finer points..

Stuart
