Zetec Rich
At last i've decided to dump the windscreen, and having managed to find a second hand R500 scuttleand bits. The scuttle needs repainting to match my seven, but whats the best way of detaching the carbon screen from the scuttle, a long knife, cheese wire !!!! Any suggestions ? New Barbie
Why not leave it in place, mask over and let TSK paint around it ? It's not ideal but you'll damage the scuttle if you're not careful. Has Tony (or whoever's painting it) seen the screen in place and said it must be removed ? That black gloop is a right sod to remove when fresh, I'd guess you'll need some chemical agent to completely remove it, I can't see it peeling away very easily although I might be wrong. If you have to I'd cut along the length with a stanley knife to lose the screen and then get at the remnants. Given the gloop is stuck on top of the paint, if you used an acidic agent to lose the paint, it would get rid of the lot - something like the stuff Fat Arn's exhaust was cleaned with. Just some ideas...........
Zetec Rich
Humm suppose i could check with TSK but i'm not sure that they can get the paint in under the rake of the carbon wind deflector. Should provide a good discussion point at north kent meet tonight !!!
