1 Engine fitted - Nearly Vroom Vroom

Today we fitted our engine 😬

It's a 1.8 140ps and it's a tight fit!!!!

We have some words of advice for anyone about to do this.

1. Dont go to the pub the night before (three thick heads out of four was not a good start.)

2. We swithered whether to get an engine hoist or to use a Block and tackle off an RSJ. went for the hoist in the end and it was very good :-

easy to manoooovere slowly and accurately

3. Four bodies was just the right number when it came to lowering in the engine

one on the crane, one over the top of the engine, one under the tunnel to mate up the prop shaft, and a gofur

4. The build manual at times is a bit of an 🙆🏻

the advice given about timing of fitting the exaust manifold seemed to be well wide of the mark, certainly with our car. The cooling hoses were not too well explained either although we are quite pleased with what weve done in the end, it was a fiddle which could have been avoided if the book had explained it better.

5. Get the coffee on draft in the garage it helps much more than the manual

All we have left to do is get some motion lotion and we'll have a go a starting it. 😬 😬 😬 😬 *wink*

Had a question about that actually

The badge on the top of the engine says "check oil when engine is hot and Running"

Whys that then? *confused*

Most engines you would let sit for 5 mins after running to alow the oil to return to the sump before checking it.

How much oil do you put in to start with because i dont know how much they will have used when they were building it.

😬 😬 😬 😬
